Something tells me there may be no point in pushing him until he's experienced enough here to see how simulations can matter, though. I can insist it's more than a dream, but I hardly know how to convince him of that better than he could manage himself. And of all simulations to want to avoid thinking about, this was certainly rather high on the list.
To start? I wanted my warden to give me privileges and leave me alone. It wasn't until I had any interest in doing anything myself that I wanted anything from him. And that interest came from the things I encountered the longer I was there. If I'd been asked to detail my entire experience that I'd already written off as a horrid nightmare, I think I would have retreated from it all even further.
I don't want his story for his next warden to be that I hit him and only showed interest in a version of him he doesn't take the least bit seriously. I'd like to talk to him about it more. But I don't think I can, just now.
[There's a pause before he comes back with:]
I'm hoping I didn't misunderstand. If you were suggesting my best chance at making things up to him was forcing him to talk about something he found inane, I guess I don't see how that does much for him.
